I am very interested in the position of Community Organizer with Eastown Community Association. My involvement with Community Associations and Community Organizing goes back to the 1970′s when I served as President of the John Ball Park Community Association. During that time I worked on grant writing, CDBG applications, establishment of babysitting co-ops, and a community tool crib. In the years since I have worked as a Union Organizer, retiring from the UFCW International Union as a Special Assistant to the International Union. During those years I pioneered incorporating Community Organizing and cooperative efforts with like minded organizations. I also served as the Chief Political Organizer for UFCW 951 in the State of Michigan and worked closely with Governor Granholm, Senator Stabenow, and Vice President Al Gore. I served as VP Gore’s State Director for Michigan, where we took the State by 12 points. My community organizing work as a UFCW organizer included working with various neighborhhood associations, as well as groups like ACORN, oft times building cooperative bridges between them to fight unwanted developement in environmentally sensitive areas, or in buffer neighborhoods.
This is a short thumbnail sketch of my experience. I am available for interview at your convenience.

I am very interested in this opportunity. I attempted to apply for the position around the end of summer, but was unable to get a response from ECA on what resources they needed from me. The job descriptions states that Nov. 1, 2012 was the application deadline. Is the opportunity to apply still available, or has the position been filled?
Hank,
The position has been filled. Thank you for your interest.
