FREE Yard & Garden Resources

Spring is around the corner, which means lawn and garden season is almost here!

The City of Grand Rapids will be offering 2,000 yards of mulch and compost this season! City residents will be allowed to pick up to one cubic yard each season on a fist come basis. Compost and mulch are available for pickup during normal business hours each Saturday. If you would like to purchase more material beyond the one yard, the prices are as follows:

Screened Compost: $19 per cubic yard

Mixed Mulch: $9 per cubic yard

Wood Chips: FREE and $5 to load

Spring Soil: $19 per cubic yard

The City of Grand Rapids also offers a FREE drop-off site for residential yard waste at 2001 Butterworth SW, which is to open to residents year round. The yard waste drop off site is open between April to mid-December it is open on Monday-Saturday from 7:30 am-4:30 pm. Winter hours are M-F between 7:30 am-4:30 pm. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Commercial contractors that want to use this site will need to work with the City of Grand Rapids composting vendor, We Care Denali, who manages the on-site operations.
